We all have to get older, but we definitely don’t have to look older!
So today, I’m sharing 10 simple aging hacks to help you turn back the clock and look your best.
10 AGING HACKS
BRING YOUR PHONE TO EYE LEVEL
Hunching over your phone causes lines around your neck and gives you a slumped-over posture, making you look older.
To keep neck lines at bay and improve your posture, bring your phone and other devices up to eye level when using them.
WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY
90% of skin aging is caused by sun exposure, so slather on a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day.
Use a shot-glass sized amount of sunscreen for your whole body, or about a teaspoon for your face.
STOP DRINKING FROM STRAWS
Ditching straws is good for the environment and it’ll make you look younger!
The repeated facial movement from drinking through a straw causes the breakdown of collagen and elastin, creating lines and wrinkles around your mouth.
MAKE RETINOL YOUR BFF
Add retinol to your nighttime skincare routine and kiss wrinkles goodbye.
Retinol is a vitamin A derivative that’s proven to smooth wrinkles and reverse signs of aging.
At the end of each day, I love applying a non-irritating retinol serum right before my night cream.
EXERCISE FOR 30 MINUTES A DAY
Studies have found that people who exercise have longer telomeres, which are protective caps for your chromosomes.
Each time your cells divide, your telomeres shorten, and as your telomeres shorten, you age.
At least 30 minutes of exercise a day keeps you looking young by lengthening your telomeres, delaying the aging process.
TINT YOUR CAR WINDOWS
You may notice more skin aging on the left side of your face. This is due to UV light pouring in through your car’s driver’s side window.
While windshields are typically treated to block UV rays, side and rear windows are not.
Tinting or applying a UV-protective film to all of your car’s windows will reduce sun exposure and slow down skin aging.
WHITEN YOUR TEETH
Studies have found that whitening your teeth can make you look 5 years younger.
You can easily whiten your teeth at home by mixing 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of water until it forms a paste.
Apply the paste to your teeth and brush, but only do this once or twice a week because excessive whitening can strip the enamel from your teeth.
SLEEP ON A SILK OR SATIN PILLOWCASE
Cotton pillowcases absorb moisture from your skin and can cause sleep wrinkles, creases in your skin caused by sleeping on your face.
Silk or satin pillowcases won’t suck the moisture from your skin and the slippery surface allows your skin to glide over it, minimizing sleep wrinkles.
FAST FOR 12 HOURS A DAY
Intermittent fasting can delay aging and even add years to your life by helping to prevent diseases like cancer and diabetes.
The easiest way to try intermittent fasting is to not eat for 12 hours between dinner and breakfast. So, if you eat dinner at 7 pm, try not to eat anything until 7 am the following day.
WASH YOUR FACE BEFORE BED
Not washing your face before bed causes breakouts and can actually age your skin.
During the day, lots of gunk (dirt, dust, pollen, pollution, etc), gathers on your face and if it’s not washed off, causes skin damage and premature aging.
