 10 (MORE) AGING HACKS

CHASE ALCOHOLIC DRINKS WITH WATER

Alcohol dehydrates your skin, causing wrinkles and other signs of aging. To keep your skin looking young, drink a glass of water after every alcoholic drink.

WEAR LARGE SUNGLASSES

Sunglasses are like sunscreen for your eyes, so invest in a large pair (these are my current favs) and wear them whenever you’re outdoors, even on cloudy days.

SWAP SODA FOR SPARKLING WATER

Your average can of soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar, and consuming too much sugar leads to a process called glycation, which causes wrinkles and sagging skin.

So, swap soda for sparkling water when you’re craving something fizzy.

TAKE A MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENT

Most of us are magnesium deficient, yet magnesium plays a major role in age prevention by hydrating your skin and stimulating collagen and elastin production.

If you’re not getting the recommended 320 mg of magnesium per day, try taking a magnesium supplement.

ROLL UP YOUR CAR WINDOWS TO AVOID POLLUTION

Do your skin a favor and roll up your car windows, even on nice days. Air pollution damages collagen and elastin, causing wrinkles, dark spots, and crepey skin.

SLEEP ON YOUR BACK

Sleeping on your side or stomach causes wrinkles, makes you lose facial volume on the side that you sleep on, and can even change the shape of your face.

Try sleeping on your back, or at least switch sides every night to balance out the loss of facial volume.

TAKE A COLLAGEN SUPPLEMENT

Collagen is the all-important protein that gives your skin strength and support. Unfortunately, collagen levels start to decline by age 30, leading to wrinkles, skin sagging, and other signs of aging.

Taking a collagen supplement like this one in dark chocolate increases collagen levels and makes a delicious addition to coffee and smoothies.

STOP SQUINTING

If you’re constantly squinting, you’ll notice wrinkles forming around your eyes.

To reduce squinting, always wear sunglasses when you’re outside, get your eyes checked regularly, and take frequent breaks from screens to avoid eye strain.

SOAK IN A SALT BATH

Soaking in a salt bath is a relaxing way to slow skin aging. Epsom salt is rich in magnesium, which hydrates and smooths your skin, and can even protect against UV damage.

Just add 2 cups of Epsom salt to warm bath water and enjoy a twenty-minute soak.

CONSIDER FILLERS

Loss of facial fullness and skin sagging are caused by declining levels of collagen and hyaluronic acid in your skin.
